Titilaka

Titilaka stands alone on a private peninsula on Lake Titicaca near Plateria, around an hour from Puno at three thousand eight hundred and twelve metres — an all-inclusive Relais & Chateaux lodge of just eighteen lake-view rooms with two private beaches. Rooms are named for the light: Dawn rooms face the sunrise, Dusk rooms the sunset, all in contemporary and local decor from around twenty-six square metres, with interconnecting options. The rate folds in a dozen and more excursions, from the Uros Floating Islands to Aymara community visits across the highest navigable lake in the world, alongside Relais & Chateaux seasonal cuisine, a selection of drinks, and a wood-fired hot tub looking over the water. The lodge runs on hydroelectric power with deep community roots. As the highest of the Peru stays, it needs prior acclimatization — reached by flying to Juliaca and a ninety-to-a-hundred-and-twenty-minute drive, or the train from Cusco to Puno. It is made for couples and culture-and-wellness travellers drawn to Titicaca's stillness. Beyond the Uros, the islands of Taquile and Amantani and the Sillustani burial towers lie within reach across the vast blue lake, the highest navigable water in the world straddling the Peru-Bolivia border.
