Inkaterra Hacienda Urubamba

Inkaterra Hacienda Urubamba sits on a hundred-acre Andean-hillside estate at Huayoccari in the Sacred Valley — a contemporary hacienda and National Geographic Unique Lodge of the World from Inkaterra, Peru's eco-tourism pioneer. Thirty-six rooms in total fill the main Casa Hacienda, with twelve there and twenty-four standalone Urubamba Casitas spread across the hillside, each with a fireplace, a private terrace, a seating and dining area and panoramic valley views, from around twenty-four square metres. A ten-acre organic farm of quinoa, giant Urubamba corn and native potatoes feeds the table, guests harvesting from it, and the all-organic Mayu Spa adds a hot plunge pool, four therapy rooms and a dry sauna between the orchard and a pepper-tree forest. The stay is bed-and-breakfast with complimentary guided excursions — dawn birdwatching, stargazing, chicha-making — making it activity-inclusive in effect. At around two thousand eight hundred and seventy metres, lower than Cusco, it is the recommended gentle acclimatization base before Machu Picchu, for couples and culture-and-wellness travellers.
