qualia

qualia sits alone on Hamilton Island's northern headland, an adults-only retreat for guests 16 and over, with 60 freestanding pavilions spread through some 30 landscaped acres above the Coral Sea and access reserved for qualia guests. Owned by the Oatley family in the Whitsundays, it is Australia's barefoot-luxury benchmark, with the Great Barrier Reef on the doorstep. The hoop-pine pavilions come in two forms: Leeward, set among the eucalypts with filtered sea views and no pool, and Windward, with a private infinity-edge plunge pool over the water; the standalone Beach House is a world of its own, with a 12-metre infinity pool and living and dining for ten. Two restaurants frame the day — the elevated Long Pavilion among the eucalypts for fine dining, and the relaxed Pebble Beach on the Coral Sea shore. Spa qualia keeps six treatment rooms with sea-breeze design, including couples rooms with sunken baths and outdoor showers, and two resort infinity pools sit alongside kayaks, paddleboards and Hobie cats. A private four-seater golf buggy comes with every pavilion. Beyond the resort lie reef snorkelling and diving trips, Whitehaven Beach excursions, Whitsundays sailing and scenic flights from the island's helipad — the draws of one of the world's great reef settings.
