Longitude 131°

Longitude 131° is glamping at its most refined: sixteen tented pavilions on red dunes at Yulara in the Red Centre, with Uluru framed through floor-to-ceiling glass from the end of the bed. On the edge of the dual World Heritage Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, it is the closest accommodation to the rock, around ten to fifteen minutes from Ayers Rock (Connellan) Airport. Each pavilion is elevated on stilts and named for an explorer, with framed artefacts and Indigenous artworks, an outdoor terrace and a swag for stargazing; fifteen are Luxury Tents, and the standalone Dune Pavilion is a two-bedroom retreat with a private plunge pool — the only accommodation in Australia with views of both Uluru and Kata Tjuta. There is no general pool in this desert setting, but the Dune Top bar has an outdoor spa pool under the sky. The all-inclusive stay folds in all dining, an open bar of Champagne and premium wines and spirits, and a selection of signature experiences: guided walks around the base of Uluru and through Kata Tjuta and Walpa Gorge, sunrise and sunset viewings with drinks and canapes, and starlit dinners at Table 131° with didgeridoo accompaniment. Bruce Munro's Field of Light glows nearby. There is a two-night minimum, and children are welcome from age 10.
