Likuliku Lagoon Resort

Likuliku is home to Fiji's first and only authentic overwater bures — around ten of them, reaching over a lagoon at the tip of Malolo Island in the Mamanucas, inside a protected marine sanctuary. Adults-only and phone-free beyond the bure, with no children and no day-trippers, it is styled like a traditional Fijian village around a canoe-house hub, and it is a National Geographic Unique Lodge of the World — the first and only in Fiji. Around forty-five minutes by speedboat from Port Denarau, or by seaplane, helicopter or catamaran, it is 100 per cent Fijian family-owned and reopened in 2025 after a multi-million-dollar refurbishment. There are 45 bures in all — Garden, Beachfront and Deluxe Beachfront with private plunge pools, alongside the overwater bures with ladder access to the lagoon and water views from the bath — in natural materials with hardwood floors, internal thatch, hand-woven coconut-husk art and twin-vanity baths. The all-inclusive stay covers meals across Fijiana, the main restaurant under Executive Chef Shane Watson, and Saluwaki for Fijian-inspired Asian tapas, with private starlit dinners on a beachside deck. The Tatadra Spa, beachfront, offers couples massages and a signature coconut-milk bath. The sea is the heart of it: snorkelling straight off the house reef in the sanctuary, day trips to Mociu (Honeymoon) Island for snorkelling and a sunrise hike, and the Na Vanua Conservation Hub, where two resident marine biologists lead coral planting and Fijian crested-iguana breeding.
