Explora Atacama

Explora Atacama pioneered the all-inclusive expedition lodge in San Pedro — the original get out of the hotel base, on a forty-two-acre estate at the foot of the Andes volcanoes. Fifty rooms in Jose Cruz Ovalle architecture run thirty-three to fifty square metres, comprising Tulur and Yali rooms and the larger Catur Suite, each with a terrace, king or twin beds and pillowtop mattresses, over a three-night minimum. Four interconnected pools, one heated, and an adobe-house spa with sauna, steam and outdoor hot tubs handle the downtime, an on-site observatory holds San Pedro's largest private telescope, and the lodge keeps its own stables. The whole point is activity: the all-inclusive rate covers more than forty guided expeditions to the salt flats and flamingos, the geysers of El Tatio, the Valley of the Moon, high-altitude lagoons and volcano ascents, plus exclusive access to the Puritama hot springs. The restaurant plates local Chilean cooking with Chilean wines, all meals included. The estate sits around two thousand four hundred metres, a ten-minute walk from town and about an hour from Calama — made for couples, families and active travellers who want the activity-first desert base.
