The Chedi Muscat

The Chedi Muscat is Oman's design icon — a Jean-Michel Gathy-designed, Omani-Asian minimalist beach resort for GHM, set in a 21-acre garden oasis on the Gulf of Oman at Al Ghubra. Opened in 2002 and refreshed in 2019, it pioneered contemporary luxury in the Sultanate, and the architecture itself is the draw: low pavilions, reflecting pools and frankincense-scented calm. Its roughly 158 to 162 keys run from minimalist Serai Rooms by the Serai pool to garden-facing Deluxe Rooms in the Chedi wing, Club Rooms with lounge access, Chedi Club Suites with sunken terrazzo baths, and villas. Three pools include the region's longest at 103 metres, an adult-only beach-view pool and a child-friendly Serai pool, set back from a 370-metre private beach. Dining spans the chandelier-lit Restaurant, beachfront seafood at The Beach Restaurant, sushi at the Long Pool Cabana and the Arabian and Shisha courtyards, while The Chedi Spa — Muscat's largest, with thirteen Balinese-style suites — handles Ayurvedic and Himalayan warm-stone therapies, with complimentary yoga and Pilates. Serene and adult-leaning, it is central yet hushed, minutes from the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque and the Royal Opera House.
