Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise

Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise stands on the shore of its turquoise glacial lake beneath the Victoria Glacier, deep in Banff National Park — a grand Canadian Pacific railway chateau built in 1890 and a UNESCO World Heritage setting. The postcard view is only the start: five hundred and thirty-nine rooms and suites look over the lake or the Chateau grounds and Rockies, from around twenty-one square metres up through deluxe lakeview rooms and junior suites to two-bedroom Fairmont Gold suites with sandstone fireplaces, with the Fairmont Gold club floor adding a private lounge, concierge and breakfast. Around eight restaurants and lounges include the Fairview Dining Room for regional, organic cooking, the Walliser Stube with its Swiss fondue and floor-to-ceiling wine library, and a Mediterranean-inspired room, alongside lakeview lounges. The Spa adds a heated indoor pool and a generous programme of complimentary fitness classes, from yoga to morning runs. The real product is the year-round Rockies: the iconic red canoes on the lake in summer, skating and dogsledding across the frozen water in winter, and skiing, hiking, horseback riding and guided mountain-heritage walks throughout. Calgary is around two hours and ten minutes away and a Park Pass is required, on a room-only base — a broad, year-round mountain base for families, couples and adventurers alike.
